1877 Excerpt: ...the two dorsals nearly equals the length of the
head. Ventrals midway between the base of the pectoral and the
spinous dorsal. Anal commences before the soft dorsal; both
emarginate behind. Shining golden, darker above, with longitudinal
streaks along the series of scales. Locality: Harbor of Honolulu,
Oahu. Very numerous. There seems to be very little difference
between this species and Mugil dobula, Gthr. AULOSTOMHm AULOSTOMA

short streak above the first. A round black spot on the base of the
ventrals, and one above and below on the caudal fin. Locality:
