This indenture, made the eighth day of July, in the yeur one thousand aud eight hundred and one, and in the twenty-sixth year of the independence and sovereignty of the United States of America, Between the Hon. John JVtilledge, of the county of - in the State above mentioned, of the one part, and Abraham Baldwin, Hugh Lawson, Benjamin Talliferro, JohnTwiggs, James Jackson, John Clark, Joseph Clay, the younger, Robert M. Cunningham, John Milledge, Josiah Tatnall, Ferdinand O'Neal, John Stuart and James McNeil, Trustees of the University of Georgia, of the other part. Whereas, The said John Milledge stands seized and possessed in his own right of all that tract or parcel of land containing six hundred and thirty acres lying and being on the south side of the north fork of the (Jconee river, adjoint to the Cedar Shoals therein the county of Jackson, in the said State, nnd having such boundaries as are hereinafter described as by deed of bargain and sale to Jiim thereof made bearing even date herewith by Daniel W. Easley, reference being thereto had, will more fully appear, and, whereas the said John Milledge, from his desire of promoting the interest of the said University, hath of his good will and mere motion agreed to give to the said Institution, the tract of land aforesaid, now therefore this indenture Witnesseth, That the said John Milledge for, and in -consideration of such his desire to promote the interest of the University aforesaid, and for, and in consideration of the sum of one dollar to him paid by the said Trustees or one of them, hath given, granted and released, and in and by these presents doth give, grant and release unto the said Trustees above named, and to their successors in office, all that tract or parcel of la...
