After a short exploration of the adjacent field, he returns to the moon and rallies his crew to explore the new planet. Lee and four others take a Moon Crawler to Summit, determined to discover what they can. As they travel the new planet, they discover the remains of a human society in servitude to centaurs. They also discover some large, intelligent catlike animals who seem to have taken a dislike to the group, creating a very dangerous situation for the unarmed astronauts. The time is short, stressing them to heights they have never experienced before. It is an exciting yet dangerous time for the first humans on Summit in thousands of years.
