White Picket Fences and Homemade Apple Pies (Hardcover)

Everyone has an opinion about America. In an unwanted child kind of way, Sigmund Freud declared, "America is a mistake, a giant mistake." This is juxtaposed by Thomas Jefferson's passionate plea, "My God How little do my countrymen know what precious blessings they are in possession of, and which no other people on earth enjoy " The beauty about America is that all her citizens have sufficient freedom of voice and freedom of choice, whether or not those voices and choices are challenged, to not be rendered completely enslaved and marginalized. We may not all see eye to eye, but our precious Constitution protects our unique ideas, thoughts and visions and there is somewhere in this great land of ours where we can all find at least an ounce of solace enough for us to nurture our dreams and to breathe freedom. White Picket Fences And Homemade Apple Pies presents my interpretation of some of these thoughts and observations about people, places and variegated socio-political, cultural and patri-otic things in America. In the end, Robert G. Ingersoll states it most excellently, "He loves his country best who strives to make it best." Very little of what we say about America will mean much unless we ourselves seek to make America great When we undermine America, we undermine ourselves. Only our daily commitment to make America great, at home and abroad, will actually make America great. This is the mark of a true patriot.
