Just as the former Stage of human Development---Childhood--consisted in Living, in Life, for its own Sake, and aimed at externalizing the Internal; so the present, Boyhood--is prominently the stage of internalizing the External; the Stage ot' Acquisition. On the parents' side, the nursling-stage was chiefly the time of tendance; to see that the little being took no harm.
