Table XXVII.--Province Of Victoria.--Statement from Official Sources of the Value of the Imports and Exports, 1850--1852. And the following figures analyse to some extent the component parts of the preceding general results: --Table XXVHI.--Province Of Victoria.--Statement of the Principal Articles of Import and Export, 1850--1852. It will be observed from these Tables, that the Imports from the United Kingdom into Victoria alone, were, in 1852, three times as large as in 1851; and in the list of articles of import given in the last table will-be found articles of British manufacture, the demand for which we know to have greatly increased in this country. Nor is the Australian demand confined to articles of mere utility. We were told, a few weeks ago, of an order from a firm in Sydney for 50,000 pairs of patent leather boots and shoes, intended for the fulldress wear of the diggers and their wives; and we were also informed by the shippers, of several extensive consignments, to order, of gold watches, of the invoice value of not less than 20 each. The next Table (xxix.) is compiled from materials furnished in the Paper by Mr. Westgarth, already referred to; and gives a general view of the progress of Victoria during the last three years.
