Life in Revolution (Paperback)

Life in Revolution is a narrative of the Tunisian revolution, recounted by inhabitants of the city of Hammamet. It presents the stories of individuals during the crucial period of four days within the unfolding of the revolution. These are stories of protest, of police repression, of civilian's resistance, of chaos, of security vacuum, of looting, of reorganization of everyday life, of protecting family, of tying with neighbors during the cold nights of civil vigilance. It was four days within which the state, order and life as people knew it collapsed. The police had run away, looting started and armed militias attacked civilians. A feeling of insecurity prevailed. People had to act and they did. Life in Revolution is a narrative of the empowerment of oppressed people. It is an analysis that transcends the obvious and delves into the processes of the normal that construct the understanding of peace in order to understand the normality of the extraordinary and the abnormal. How did people deal with the chaos, with the vacuum, with the insecurity, ultimately with the unfolding of the revolution and what is revolution really? These are few of the questions that are posed.
