Are serum triglycerides atherogenic? At least in familial dysbetalipoproteinemia, familial combined hyperlipidemia and chylomicronemia, triglyceride-rich lipoproteins have been proven to cause premature atherosclerosis. Not only these lipoprotein disorders are discussed in detail, but also other hypertriglyceridemic disorders are reviewed, including dietary and drug treatment.
