Sanmu is located in the northern portion of B s Peninsula in central Chiba Prefecture, bordered by the Pacific Ocean to the east. The city of Sanmu was formed on March 27, 2006 by the merger of the towns of Sanbu, Matsuo and Narut, and the village of Hasunuma, all from Sanbu District.
