In any town where there is but one such officer, the sum of two dollars per day, and in towns where there are more than one commissioner, one dollar and fifty cents for each day actually and necessarily spent in the discharge of his official duties. Constables. For serving a warrant, seventy-five cents; for every mile traveled going and returning, ten cents; for taking a defendant into custody on a mittimus, twenty-five cents; for every mile traveled in taking the prisoner to jail, going and returning, ten cents; for taking charge of a jury during their deliberations, fifty cents; for attending any court pursuant to a notice from the sheriff for that purpose, two dollars for each day, and five cents a mile for each mile traveled in going to arid returning from such court.
