Utilization of C-17 Training Resources - Is Aetc Meeting User Demand? (Paperback)

The need for strategic airlift continues to play a major part in the Global War on Terrorism. The use of strategic airlift, especially during Operation ENDURING FREEDOM, was accomplished primarily by the C-17 due to the distance and threat environment. The recent Mobility Capabilities Study determined that the need for additional C-17s beyond 180 was not economically feasible in this time of tight budgets and the overall recapitalization of other Air Force aircraft. With the 180th C-17 scheduled to enter the fleet in FY08, a hard look must be given to utilizing this high demand asset in the most efficient manner possible. This increased utilization must include those C-17s assigned to AETC to conduct initial and upgrade training at Altus AFB.
