This is one of the innumerable common-place instances which show that the full importance of machinery in the commercial progress of the community is not duly appreciated, unless time and quantity are taken into the estimate as well as difliIt is to Messrs. The uantity and variety exhibited by them and others are evi ence of the encouragement given by the public to this ornamental mode of packeting letter and note papers, for each size of which envelopes are made to suit. The following exhibitors also displayed writing-papers in packets, viz.: Messrs. Donns and Co., London (79, p. 543); Messrs. COWAN, of Edinburgh (101, p. 544); Messrs. Srici-:11 Bnoranns (42, p. 540); and Messrs. VENABLES, Wilson, and TYLER (149, p. 5-16). Foreign manufacturers have adopted the mode of making up letter and note paper in ornamental packets, and they have exhibited a variety of good specimens, among which wert.& Fram: e.--lVI.
