The one great feature of the meeting overshadowing every other was the warm hospitality which confronted the visitors at every turn. The streets and buildings were attractively decorated with flags and bunting and many show windows contained grain and handsome set pieces in recognition of the grain dealers' visit. At every turn the dealers met the cheering "Welcome G. D. N. A." and at night the same cordial message blazed forth in Ielefitric letters from the dome of the city ta. Altho the local committee on entertainment was large, every resident of Norfolk seemed to consider himself a member of it and made it his first duty to see that every wish of each visitor was gratified. Never before has any grain trade association received such attention. The first session of the 16th animal meeting of the Grain Dealers' National Ass'n was called to order at 10:15 a. m.. Oct. 1, by Pres. E. M. VVayne in the handsome Colonial Theater at Norfolk, Va. About 200 dealers and their friends occupied the comfortable plush seats of the auditorium, and on the stage were grouped the speakers of the morning. An orchestra of six pieces rendered timely selections at intervals during the session. Sparks D. Melton. D. D., pastor of the Freemason Street Baptist Church, pronounced the invocation, and called for divine guidance for those participating in the meetin s. Harry. Vllalcott, pres. of the Board of Trade, welcomed the dealers to Norfolk and dwelt on the importance to the Board of the Norfolk grain men.
