We have no data on no load operation, but this depends entirely upon the mechanical elficiency of the engine and is usually about 25 per cent of the consumption at full load. The following data is taken from a series of very exhaustive tests made in the laboratories in the University of Michigan, that appeared in THE GAS ENGINE in February, 1917. Taking the consumption of fuel at full load as a basis or 100 per cent, the consumption at fractional loads per horsepower delivered was as follows: Summary of Statistics of Crude Petroleum for March, 1920, and Preceeding Months Upper diagram monthly fluctuations in average daily rate of (a) United States production of petroleum plus imports of mineral crude oil.
