A constitutional number of Subordinate Commanderics within this jurisdiction met in convention on the 23d day of March, 1872, at Fort Smith, and proceeded to organize a Grand Commandery of Knight Templars and appendant orders, under and by virtue of the authority of the M. E. Grand Master of Knights Templar of the United States The convention was called to order and Sir L. E. Barrer elected President and Sir Edward J. Brooks Recorder, when they adopted their constitution, burial services, rules and edicts, and proceeded formally to elect their officers as follows: R. E. Sir Luke E. Barrer, Grand Commander, E.
