The boatmen's fares to and from each station, and to almost every point within the different harbours and creeks in the neighbourhood are fixed and published in a small book; and every waterman is bound, under a penalty of forty shillings, to produce this book when demanded by any person or persons who shall have hired, or are about to hire him. The Time-fares for boats are as follows: --the first hour, one shilling each boatman; every subsequent half hour, three pence, provided the charge for a boat and man does not exceed six shilling...
