BOAT FARES, and Hackney Coaches, are regulated by Commissioners, under certain provisions of an act of parliament passed for the purpose. The boatmen's fares to and from each station, and to almost every point within the different harbours and creeks in the neighbourhood are fixed and published in a small book; and every waterman is bound, under a penalty of forty shillings, to produce this book when demanded by any person or persons who shall have hired, or are about to hire him.
