Leukocyte Integrins in the Immune System and Malignant Disease (Paperback)

The book focuses on leukocyte integrins, in particular, on receptors of the alpha4 subfamily. Recent findings on the regulation of integrin adhesive functions, signal trans- duction by integrins, as well as functions of alpha4- integrins for physiologcal and pathological responses of the immune system and for the progression of malignant diseases are discussed. Similarities to the function of other leukocyte integrins are presented. Better understanding of the molecular mechanisms that control integrin activity and mediate integrin functions in vivo may allow for novel therapeutic approaches based on the dynamic control of integrin function.
