Take any heavy board for covers; punch holes through one edge, and place this edge next the back; and bring each strip of cloth over the outerside of this and down inside to the back again where it is sewed fast. HaviDg thus secured the covers in place, take strong manilla paper, fold in several thicknesses, making a strip wide enough to round over the back and sew fast through the holes that were made in the covers. Over all paste evenly plain red or some dark cloth, folding in nicely at the edges and back. Finish the inside of the cover with plain white paper and ornament the outside with a picture if desired, and you have a strong book, which will make a very respectable addition to your library. All learning is self-teaching. It is in the working of the pupil's own mind that his progress in knowledge depends.
