Temptation-proof mid floods of pain, Afflietion's hillows rear their erest, And spend their wrath--no--ne'er again: And when along life's stormy water There needs no polar-star to hurn, No toreh of Hope--God's loveliest daughter, To paint the weary hark's return; For nre-refined, in pristine youth Our Phoenix-earth renewed shall he, --But lips which caunot hreathe untruth Have said--"There shall he no more seal" Oh then thy tides, remorseless deep Twixt faithful hearts will roll no more--No longer sorrow roam and weep Along thy wild unfriendly shore--No longer watch in tearless woe The lessening sail, --a last look giving To all tint hrighten'd earth helow--To all that made life worth the living. And then no more shall Hope emhark Her treasures on the uneertain main, To view the waves engulf her ark, Ah ne'er to yield it forth...
