Third street and First avenue, North; 6-story and basement brick building; protected by automaticsprinklers; low pressure alarm received at 2:19 a. m. by central office; watchman in drug warehouse heard sprinkler bell ring, but before he could turn in an alarm the fire department and salvage corps arrived; fire in basement of paper house; entrance to paper warehouse gained by breaking open door; fire spread to second story; 27 sprinklers operated, emptying the tank; finally estinguished with chemical streams. Sprinkler protection restored at 1:58 p. m., January 16; central office men remained on premises until 7 a. m., at which time communication was secured with sprhikler company and a request was made to restore sprinkler service. A second report expressed the belief that there were two separate fires at the same time, one in the basement and one in the uppper part of the building., PHILADELPHIA SUBURBAN INDUSTRIAL DISTRICT, REDUCTION OF FIRE INSURANCE COST IN.
