As these companies had not made the required deposit with the state controller the state authorities propose to make it hot for any adjuster who ventures to settle the loss.--The abridged edition of The Chronicle Fire Tables, containing the number of risks burned in the United States during the past twelve years and the financial history of fire insurance companies for ten years, has been issued from the press. It is a neat pamphlet of sixty-four pages and contains much information that should be very useful to local agents, as it gives in attractive form not only the history of the companies, but also the record of fires in all classes of property for an extended period. A diagram, based on known causes of fires in dwelling houses for three years, is another feature, of the book. The price of the pamphlet is twelve dollars perhundred. Orders will be promptly filled.--John Bodine, vice-president of the Park Fire insurance company, died at his residence in this city on Saturday, April 2, of heart disease, aged seventy-nine years.--The new Liberty Fire insurance company has elected officers and directors and will begin business shortly.--Brother Lakey, author of "Sure Road to Success," etc., tells his friends that he has another book "on his mind."--The Columbia F. and M. insurance company of Portland, Oregon, has been incorporated.
