Mr. Moore is a very tall man and fine looking. He is exceedingly modest as a speaker, claiming nothing for himself, confessing errors and mistakes and giving credit to his associates by name all through his address. And so he soon captured everybody. Add to this a low and pleasant voice, a conversational and not an oratorical style, an endless fund of happy illustrations and pointed stories, told in an effective way--the moral never explained to you--and to this add a minute and thorough mastery of the details and the principles of fire insurance--and you have before you a matchless orator--one of whom every auditor says: "I never heard his equal."--Insurance Magazine, Kansas Oily. DOCTORS DISAGREE IN ADMINISTERING SCHEDULE MEDICINE--NOTE THIS. The trouble with Boston, in my judgment, is not so much the need of a high key-rate, as was contemplated by the action taken by the board, as a proper charge for exposure. With narrow streets and combined multiform hazards, with rear courts, narrow alleyways and openings on both sides fires are apt to get beyond control instead of being confined to the buildings in which they originated. If the fires of Boston had been confined to the buildings in which they originated during.the past ten years the record would have been very different; it is largely due to those fires that got outside of the buildings that the exceptional loss record has occurred.
