Although the average farmer's wife may not know much about efficiency engineering, she will be able to tell you if her machine does not work as satisfactorily as that of her neighbor, and the probability is great that she will not forget to tell you about it, if such happens to be the case. So it is important that the various lines of washers open to the dealer be studied in order that the best general-purpose washer be selected. The price at which the machine may be sold and a reasonable profit assured is another important factor. The dealer should assure himself a reasonable compensation, but he should guard against stocking a cheap machine upon which the profit is comparatively large. Tt would be better to sell a better machine on a closer margin and have a satisfied customer--one likely to become a repeater--as this is the sort of business that means a steadily increasing volume and profits.
