Mr. Bell's 3rd pullet was in color but rather gamey in type, as she' unfinished when shown. 1st hen owned by J. Crick was also a female of special q1 One of the greatest showings of the season was made in Buff Orpingtons by Judge Fred A. Poertner, Box H, Berea, O. his full winnings were 1-2-3-4-5 cocks, 1-2-3 hens, 1-2-3 pullets, 1-2-3 old pen and 1-2-3 young pen. And best of all his great first cockerel won award for Best Bird in the Entire Show and his display won the best display for the entire show. Hr. Poertner also made a great winning of display at the Chicago Coliseum show and sold one of his winning pens there at 8 record price for the show. His Coliseum win was 1-3-4 old pen, 2-4 cock, 4 pullet, 2 hen, 5 cockerel and best 5 Orpington cocks. White Rocks were once hotly contested at Pittsburgh but this year Geo. Hildebrand had it all to himself with a nice line of birds. The Black Minorcas were a small i-lass for Pittsburgh and the local breeders explained it by saying that all were "laying" for the Garden show where the club would meet the week following.
