The work of its faculty and alumni have brought it wide recognition and success in the 21st century, when it was called the "best design academy in the world." The Design Academy Eindhoven was established in 1947 and was originally named the Academy for Industrial Design Eindhoven (AIVE, as in Akademie Industrile Vormgeving Eindhoven). In 1997, the Academy moved into "De Witte Dame" (The White Lady) building and subsequently changed its name to Design Academy Eindhoven (DAE). In 1999, Li Edelkoort, a famous trendforecaster, was elected chairwoman of the Academy. The Design Academy Eindhoven (DAE) and Dutch design in general are gaining excellent international reputations. The academy's emphasis on creativity and practical industrial design is attracting students from around the world. Ninety percent of graduates get jobs in the design world. Mayers Moss, owner of the design store Moss in Manhattan, called the academy "without question, currently the best design academy in the world"..
