Excerpt: Ramush Haradinaj (born 3 July 1968 in Gloane, Yugoslavia, in present-day Kosovo), is a former guerrilla leader of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) and former prime minister of Kosovo. He is currently the leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK). Haradinaj is among former KLA officers who were charged of war crimes during the Kosovo War of 1999 by the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) at The Hague but was acquitted of all charges on 3 April 2008 . He finished High School in akovica. After the Kosovo War he attended the University of Pristina where he graduated from the Faculty of Law . Haradinaj also has a Master's degree in business from the American University of Kosovo which is associated with Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). He has recently been asked by the Ugandan Rebel Group "Allied Democratic Forces" to mediate peace talks with the central government in Kampala. Haradinaj was born on 3 July 1968 in the village of Gloane near Deani, in the Yugoslav province of Kosovo (in present-day Kosovo). He spent his youth in his native village with his parents and siblings. He graduated from high school and served in the Yugoslav Army. After the demonstrations of Kosovo Albanians in 1989 and the increased suppression of the local ethnic Albanian population that followed, Haradinaj emigrated to Switzerland, where he spent 8 years working as a construction worker and security guard . In Switzerland, he also joined the separatist National Movement of Kosovo, from which originated the KLA.
