Excerpt: Aleksandra "Sandra" Melnichenko nee Nikoli (born April 1977 in Belgrade, Serbia, SFR Yugoslavia) is a Serbian former model. She is best known as the wife of Russian tycoon Andrey Melnichenko. Born to Serbian father and Croatian mother, Sandra Nikoli was educated at the Mathematical High School in Belgrade, prior to enrolling in the Faculty of International Management in Belgrade. At the age of 15, Aleksandra was encouraged to become a fashion model. She traveled with her parents to Milan, Paris and London where she modeled for a number of fashion houses. She then became a founding member of Models, Serbian manufactured 1990s pop group in the vein of the Spice Girls. During her time with the group other members were Ivana "Sindi" Stamenkovi, Ivana Berendika, etc. Over the following five years, Models released a few of albums. In 1998, Aleksandra returned to modeling work and by 1999 was signed by model agencies that included Riccardo Gay and Traffic. She spent the next four years working out of Milan and Barcelona on a number of advertising campaigns in the print media and on television. In 2003, Aleksandra met Andrey Melnichenko, the Russian billionaire businessman. Their marriage has been marked by extravagance such as having top international stars perform at their wedding, birthdays and anniversaries. The couple's wedding ceremony took place on the French Riviera in September 2005. The lavish affair that featured performances from Christina Aguilera, Whitney Houston, Julio and Enrique Iglesias received global media coverage.
