National team caps and goals correct as of 6 May 2010Hans-Jorg Butt (born 28 May 1974 in Oldenburg) is a German footballer who currently plays for FC Bayern Munich in the German League, as a goalkeeper. Known for taking penalty kicks (he has netted nearly 30 goals in Germany's top flight, ) Butt has played for Hamburger SV, Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich in his country, having arrived at Munich already aged 34. During his career, Butt has scored three times from the penalty spot against Juventus, once with each club. Butt started his professional career with modest VfB Oldenburg, achieving promotion to the second division. He moved to Hamburger SV in 1997 and, in 199899, hit seven goals for the team all from the penalty spot, adding nine in similar fashion the following season. Butt joined Bayer 04 Leverkusen on a free transfer in 2001, being the side's undisputed starter in the subsequent campaigns (he only missed one league match in his first five seasons combined, and added seven goals), and appeared in all the games (17) for a team that lost to Real Madrid in the 2002 Champions League final, scoring a penalty in a 31 home win against Juventus FC, in the second group stage.
