Tagesrapporte Der Gestapoleitstelle Wien 1938 1945 / Daily Reports of the Gestapo Headquarters in Vienna 1938 1945 (German, Online resource)

The research database Daily Reports of the Gestapo Headquarters in Vienna 1938 1945 publishes, for the first time, all 741 surviving reports outlining the mood, the political situation and security measures in the city of Vienna and the surrounding region. From 2nd September 1938 the Viennese Office, like all Regional Gestapo Headquarters throughout the entire German Reich, sent reports about the political events of the previous 24 hours. Compiled in rubrics such as Left-wing opposition, Jews, Catholic opposition and many more, a total of 5,795 pages of information on approximately 16,000 people were collected. The reports offer a wealth of contemporary historical source material about politically motivated persecution during the Nazi period. The individual reports are presented as digital facsimiles. An electronic table of contents, indexes of persons and subjects, and a full-text search option guaranty easy and appropriate use of the source material. In addition, personalised links are provided to the photographic collection "Nicht mehr anonym. Fotos aus der Erkennungsdienstlichen Kartei der Gestapo Wien" (No longer anonymous. Photos from the records department files of the Gestapo in Vienna). The database is primarily intended for historians and can be freely combined with the databases from the series 20th Century German History Online.
