Towle, it was--Voted, That, in the opinion of the town, the Town Clerk should be Clerk of the Selectmen. Fifth Article taken up: To see what action the town will take in consequence of the refusal of the Legislature to authorize the town to borrow three hundred thousand dollars, and to see if the town will borrow money to build the main sewer to Charles river, and to pay land damages. Voted, That for the purpose of constructing the main sewer laid out by the Selectmen, and duly accepted by this town, and for paying land damages, the Treasurer is hereby authorized and directed, with the advice and consent of the Selectmen, to borrow not exceeding $125,000 from time to time, as needed by them, and to issue therefor the bonds of this town, to be called sewer bonds, to be made payable in twenty years from date of the bonds, bearing interest not exceeding six per cent, per annum, payable half yearly; and the sum of $7500 is hereby appropriated, to be raised by taxation this year, to pay the interest on the bonds so to be issued; and the sum of $3600 is hereby appropriated to be added to the sinking fund appropriation, to be also raised by taxation this year and each succeeding year until the final payment of the bonds thus authorized to be issued. If, however, the money shall be borrowed at five per cent, or a less rate of interest, the amount to be raised for the payment of interest shall be proportionally reduced.
