Born into the Parisian fashion industry in 1932 as the son of a sewing machine salesman, Jean Louis Henri Bousquet trained as a tailor and worked as a designer for two years before launching his own fashion house . Cacharel was born in 1962 and provided inspiration during a time of social upheaval for women. Brightly coloured skirts and blouses with natural lines gave Cacharel a certain flair and modernity and with that came mass market appeal.

Seersucker blouses and liberty shirts and dresses paved the way for Bousquet and Cacharel as well as their ready to wear lines for men and children. Young, fresh and modern with just the right amount of classic charm was his moniker and success afforded him the opportunity to venture into different directions such as fragrances in 1975 and public office from 1983 to 1995.

Bousquet partnered with L'Oréal in 1975 to develop scents for the house of Cacharel with the first being launched in 1978. Anais Anais is a warm and refreshing natural floral scent that is forever timeless. Other popular women’s perfumes followed such as the fresh and cool Eden, the sensual Lou Lou, the chic Liberte, the vibrant and lively Noa, the seductive Noa Dream, and the romantic Amor Amor series. Popular men’s colognes include their signature cologne, Cacharel, the timeless and refined Cacharel Pour Homme, the contemporary and very masculine Amor Pour Homme and the enchanting Amour Pour Homme Tentation.
