He is said to have been robbed thirty-two or thirty-three days after having started from Wad Noon, and eight or ten days afterward (supposed to be on the 12th or 13th of December) to have been shot at Sheh Keya, twenty days' journey from Wad Noon, and twenty-seven from Tombuctoo. The lamented death of this celebrated traveller, long known to the public by the account of his travels in Egypt and the Holy Land, was very feelingly alluded to, at the meeting of the Royal Geographical Society, by the chairman, J. R. Murchison, Esq. The informant could give no certain account of the fate of Abu Bekr, the companion of Mr. Davidson, but understood him to have gone on with the caravan.
