Canadian composer Jan Randall is known primarily for his work in television and theatre. A pianist and singer, he has composed chamber music and songs in a wide variety of contemporary styles. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1952. His family moved to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, in 1961, and they became Canadian citizens in 1967. He received a Bachelor of Music in 1975 majoring in theory and composition from the University of Alberta. There he studied composition, orchestration and conducting with Malcolm Forsyth and Violet Archer.
