Back to My Roots and the Green Loblolly Tree (Paperback)

This little book attempts to depicts the authors love of an island in the Carribean called Anguilla. She landed there as a baby with her family in 1978 where she then spent the first happiest eight years of her life. Her childhood in Anguilla was incredible but her life there suddenly came to an end when she and her family returned to live in Wales, UK in 1986. The author longed to return to Anguilla but this dream didn't come true until 2009 when she was given the opportunity to work there as a nurse. On her return, her memories were vivid and even though she embraced the changes in the new Anguilla, she wanted to hold onto the memories of the old Anguilla so she wrote this little book, including old photographs that people of Anguilla can relate to. She also includes many photographs of Anguilla today in order to draw a comparison and to share the beauty of this superb island. Shortly after returning to Anguilla, a post as senior dental officer became available which was the same post the authors father had left 23 years ago. Her father was chosen and has returned to live and work in Anguilla. He was inaugurated as president of rotary in 2011. A donation from the proceeds of this book will be going to the Rotarian Club of Anguilla. The author believes that whoever is lucky enough to land on the shores of Anguilla is truly blessed and the author hopes that her story can contribute to the excitement and appreciation of this fantastic island for Anguillians and visitors alike.
