Excerpt: ...purpose of inspecting or searching for any weights or measures, or instruments for weighing used or kept therein whenever he has reason to believe that there are in such place any weights, measures or instruments for weighing which are false. If he finds in such place any weights, measures, or instruments for weighing which are false, he may seize the same, and shall forthwith give information of such seizure to a police magistrate having jurisdiction. No police ofiicer or person in authority shall oifer, or make or cause to be oifered or made, any inducement, threat or promise to an accused person, snflicient to give such accused person grounds which would appear to him reasonable. for supposing that by making a confession he would gain any advantage or avoid any evil of a temporary nature in reference to proceedings against him. 136. Any police magistrate may record any statement or confession made "to him, at any time before the commencement of an inquiry or trial. Such statements shall be recorded in such manner as is hereinafter prescribed for recording evidence. Such confessions shall be recorded and signed in the manner provided in section 368, and shall then be forwarded to. the police court by which the case is to be inquired into or tried. Inspection of weights and measures. No inducement to be oflered to induce an accused to make a confession. Power to record statements and confessions.
