It will be seen from the above that he attaches much importance in his argument to this, which he asserts to be a fact, and which is stated so positively that I for one, in reading over the article, did not for some time notice how erroneous the statement was. One day, however, when reading it over, it occurred to me that the term, 'The Lord dwelleth in Jerusalem, ' or 'loveth Jerusalem, ' did not grate on my ear, and accordingly I proceeded to test the accuracy of his statement. Then, to my intense surprise, I found it was entirely erroneous, and I first learned to what an extent he lacked accuracy in his writings. On searching the Scriptures I found that Jerusalem shared with Zion the passages referred to, but I will only mention a few instances, sufficient however to unmistakably point out the error of Air. Fergusson's statement. 'But I have chosen Jerusalem that My name may be there '--' Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen to put My name there '--' House of the Lord at Jerusalem '--' In Jerusalem shall My name be for ever'--' If I forget thee, 0 Jerusalem, if I prefer not Jerusalem '--' Jerusalem, the throne of the Lord '--' Jerusalem shall be called a city of truth, the mountain of the Lord of Hosts '--' In Salem is His tabernacle '--' Blessed be the Lord out of Zion, which dwelleth at Jerusalem'--' Comfort Zion and chose Jerusalem '--' Pray for the peace of Jerusalem, they shall prosper that love thee'--' And the Lord shall choose Jerusalem again.'
