Society has a habit of defining people and their status. "Remember the African Skies" is a book that redefines the social norm of social stereotypes. . It takes the reader on a journey of self discovery and self realization. Kungulu is a child of mixed race from a southern African country called Mtesa. Being half black and half white, Kungulu has difficulty finding his place in society. As a young man who never knew who his father was, his mother raisedhim up with traditional African beliefs. As the people of Mtesa start fighting for their independence, is separated from his motherin a riot. Without an immediate family member to raise him, the Bellmonts, a white upper middle class family, take him in and raise him as their own. Despite the country's law of segregation, the Bellmonts adopt Kungulu and they also encounter conflict within their own social groups.
