In ascending a ste-;p hill the telegraph wires go 3 O by the older and steeper road. Here follow the new road to the L which later inclines to the R again and rejoins the telegraph wires. 16 miles after Haverfordwest and 5 miles before St. Clears pass straight through Whitland and follow the telegraph wires. In entering St. Clears another road joins from our L rear, where a yellow house with a monkey-puzzle tree stands on L. 100 yards further in middle of village at cross roads turn L for Carmarthen (8 miles). About 1 miles before Carmarthen, the telegraph wires leave the road. Here proceed straight ahead up the hill which has an obelisk on the top of it. Keep to L side of obelisk. Then to L of Inkerman Memorial straight across under the Coffee Pot (on corner of house on R). To _ f South African Memorial. At statue of Nott turn L Pass the National Provincial Bank, leave post office on R. Keep to L of church.
