Everyone lies. The author admits that infants have not lied to himayet. The dead have not lied lately. Everyone else has either lied recently or will lie in the near future. Based on this principle, the author has tried to explain how, when, and why we lie, with a special emphasis toward identifying the causes and structure of a poor lie. He discusses how lies may constitute more than a simple misstatement of fact intended to deceive another. He also has told you what steps you the reader need to take to become an effective, competent liar. Other than lying better, the author has coincidentally taught the reader how to spot and identify when the reader is the target of a lie. This book also discusses the ultimate lie, where, through various statements, a person can convince another of a mistruth by telling the truth.
