Not illustrated. 1902 Excerpt: ...in the City of Bristol and of Kirby Muxloe in the County of Leicester, Gentleman, deceased, Her Royal Licence and Authority that they may take use and bear the surname of Carlyon in addition to and before that of Britton and that he the said Philip William Poole Britton may bear the Arms of Carlyon quarterly with those of his own family and that such surname and Arms may in like manner be taken borne and used by the issue of their marriage, such Arms being first duly exemplified according to the Laws of Arms and recorded in the College of Arms, otherwise the said Royal Licence and Permission to be void and of none effect. gutfl oWOMih as the said Earl Britton. Marshal did by Warrant under his hand and seal bearing date the Vol. 2, p. 77. fourteenth day of June instant authorise and direct Us to exemplify such Arms accordingly. now 30 thmfott that we the said Garter and Clarenceux in obedience to the Royal Command in pursuance of His Grace's Warrant and by virtue of the Letters Patent of Our several Offices to each of Us respectively granted do by these Presents exemplify unto the said Ph1lip William Poole Britton now Philip William Poole Carlyon-Britton the Arms following that is to say Quarterly, First and Fourth Britton, Second and Third Carlyon viz' Sable a plate, between three Towers Argent each charged with a Cross Crosslet Gules, and for distinction in the centre Chief point a Cross Crosslet Or. The Crest of Britton, And the Crest of Carlyon viz' On a Wreath of the Colours A demi Lion Gules ducally Crowned Or, collared Argent, holding between the paws a Bezant and charged on the shoulder for distinction with a Cross Crosslet of the second, as the same are in the margin hereof more plainly depicted to be borne and used by him the said Philip William Po...
