The Stone Gang (Paperback)

When Hubert Morrison's father died in Cambridge he became the owner. He had a brother named Trevor who was working in the foreign office and living in London. The only other member of the family was an unmarried sister in Paris and working there. His mother was devastated and went to live permanently with her. She asked Hubert to get a nice headstone for the grave.
He wrote to a firm of monumental sculptors for their brochure, and on perusing it, he did not like anything on it and asked to see the show room. When he arrived at the place there seemed to be a row going on between one of the staff with an unruly customer, and he was asked to the show room on his own.
On the way there he passed a young man dressed in a motor bike outfit who was running to the office from a room. He went in this door, put his briefcase on a desk that had a cup of coffee and what looked like icing sugar.
He photographed everything there and saw what he wanted with name Plowden on the base. He was amazed that the base was all hollowed out. He left and two days later he and his girlfriend Eileen Moran traveled to Paris. Hubert was taken into an office and strip searched, and his luggage was all opened up. The same thing happened when he returned to London, as was Eileen this time.
Because he looked awful, Eileen took him to the airport doctor, who advised rest and a holiday, not to fly, but travel by boat when he was told that he would be going to Ireland. He told the monumental company what he wanted, and that he would be traveling to Ireland to rest. Motor Bike man tried to poison him with poison milk and his apartment and car were broken into. Eileen at this time called her mother andfather in Philadelphia, as her father, Sean Moran, an Irish immigrant to the USA, was a private detective. He traveled to England straight away and asked Eileen to get Trevor to arrange an appointment with a Scotland Yard detective. In their investigations they found an illegal drug ring supplying drugs to dealers in Ireland.
They also found Motor Bike man murdered. The end was that they were all arrested and when the drug baron made his delivery to Ireland, usually every three weeks, he went back to England with over a million sterling and stolen jewelry collected from some of the Irish drug dealers and brought it to England for sale.
