As the incidence of childhood obesity continues to dramatically increase, the emergence of type 2 and the increasing incidence of type 1 diabetes in young people demonstrate that childhood diabetes, like adult onset diabetes, is a complex and heterogeneous condition presenting new obstacles to the practicing clinician.
