Old Scarface was written as a story. A story of several characters and a magnificent Alaskan brown bear, Old Scarface. It is a story of survival and death. Within the book are real-life survival techniques and a few poems blended into the story. Most of the story is fiction. However, the author did experience the moose attack. The poem "Dog Gone Wild" was a real-life experience as well. The author has lived and worked as a survival instructor in Alaska.
