A history of Saltash Passage, Plymouth. Contains over 140 old photos and illustrations. From the back cover: Saltash Passage has been the main route from Devon to Cornwall for hundreds of years. In that time, it has seen a great change, from the building of the Royal Albert Bridge in 1859 to the building of the Tamar Bridge in 1961. The many old photos featured in this book may surprise people how similar a lot of the area still is. Many of the same buildings remain, including the Royal Albert Bridge Inn and the Ferry House Inn, along with many of the adjoining dwellings. Featured in this book are chapters on the annual regatta,Little Ash Tea Gardens,the building of the Royal Albert Bridge,the ferry, transport and the Second World War which I hope will be of interest not only to people who live in Saltash Passage but also to the thousands of people who have visited this beautiful part of Plymouth over the years.
