e-dition: Best of Chemistry / Chemie (eBook Package / eBook-Paket) (English, German, Electronic book text)

Reviews of selected highlights: Wilhelm Klemm, Rudolf Hoppe: Anorganische Chemie [Inorganic Chemistry]"[...]a `legendary' work of two titans of solid state chemistry."Prof. Dr. Michael Ruck Ralf Steudel: Chemistry of the Non-Metals"Steudel's book offers a very readable and easy-to-understand presentation of the key concepts of inorganic molecular chemistry. Following an introduction into chemical bonding, the book focuses on the material chemistry of the main group elements."Prof. Dr. Michael Ruck Harry B. Gray: Elektronen und Chemische Bindung [Electrons and Chemical Bonding] "Electrons and chemical bonding: This standard textbook on quantum chemistry is easy to understand even for chemists; its basic concepts never become obsolete. Well done didactically, concise and to-the-point."Prof. Dr. Ralf Steudel Heinrich Biltz: Experimentelle Einfuhrung in die Anorganische Chemie [Experimental Introduction to Inorganic Chemistry]"Like many chemists who studied chemistry in the 20th century, my first contact with the chemistry lab was a practical course which used the book by Heinrich Biltz, Wilhelm Klemm and Werner Fischer- simply referred to as the BKF. The intention of this book was to convey practical techniques and knowledge about materials through lab experiments, which were accompanied by instructive background information. Since the material fundamentals of inorganic chemistry have of course remained unchanged, this book has lost nothing of its value. As university professor, I still use excerpts from it in lab courses for first-semester students." Prof. Dr. Michael Ruck Heinrich Wieland / Ludwig Gattermann: Die Praxis des organischen Chemikers [The Practice of the Organic Chemist]"Generations of chemists have learned the synthesis methods of organic chemistry from this book with rules for preparing simple organic specimens. These rules never become obsolete. It would be very regrettable if this information should become lost."Prof. Dr. Ralf Steudel Walter J. Moore: Grundlagen der Physikalischen Chemie [Physical Chemistry]"A popular textbook containing the key concepts of physical chemistry, which do not become obsolete so quickly. Should definitely remain available."Prof. Dr. Ralf Steudel Michael Ruck is Professor of Inorganic Chemistry at TU Dresden and Max Planck Fellow at the MPI for Chemical Physics of Solids. Ralf Steudel is Professor Emeritus of Inorganic Chemistry and Head of the Sulfur Research Group at Technical University Berlin.
