El Faro (Spanish, Region 1 Import DVD)

After a horrible road accident kills the rest of their family, seventeen year-old Meme (Ingrid Rubio) and eight year-old Carmela (Jimena Baron) are left to take care of each other. They go to Uruguay to stay with an aunt, but their visit is short lived. Meme, who had previously been indiscriminately sexual, must learn to deal with the results of her injuries. As they travel across the country to Montevideo, the girls' bond grows stronger. There, while staying in a lighthouse, they meet Andy, a kind man whom Meme falls in love with. Unfortunately, he can not return her feelings. EL FARO was the winner of the 1999 Goya Award for Best Spanish Language Foreign Film.
