The paper having been read, the Chairman said they had listened to a paper not only interesting but extremely valuable. It simply bristled with facts for both geologists and practical miners. In consideration of its importance and.the breadth of the subject with which it dealt, he thought the discussion on it ought to be postponed till next Mouday, Ho that in the meantime members might nave an opportunity of reading and studying it This was agreed to. Mr. Ballot, in moving a vote of thanks to Mr. Draper, said he could hardly speak too highly of the paper. It was crammed full of facts, and it might well supply the subject of discussion for the Geological Society for a dozen meetings to come. Mr. Draper had, in fact, outlined the rock skeleton of South Africa. There were just two points on which at that moment he might touch--one of scientific, the other of practical interest. As for the first, Mr. Draper had been the first to settle the geological age of the Rand formations. He had shown them to be of the same age as the Table Mountain sandstones, and he had all but proved that the Banket beds...
