A good combination is: Ac. salicylici gr. xv Il Sulphur. praecipitat 3j 4 Adepis anserini Si 32 0l. rosa geran gtt. i gtt. 10--M. Stelwagon gives: H--Sulphur. precipitat., Bals. Peruv U 3j 4 Ung. diachyli 3vj 24l--M. Tvmenol sometimes does well, either pure or diluted with vaseline or other oil, one in ten. Ichthyol, 3ss_ij (2_8) to the ounce (32), with or without sulphur, is at times excellent. Ehrmann advises that a 10 per cent. solution of it be introduced into the skin by means of cataphoresis, using 10 to 15 milliamperes of current for ten to fifteen minutes. Unna uses a 20 per cent. ichthyol mull two to five times a week. When improvement is established the strength is to be reduced to 0.5 to 1 per cent. Mercury is another drug of value. Duhring recommends bathing the parts with "black wash" and following it with oxide of zinc ointment with a dram (4) of alcohol or one-half dram (2) of camphor to the ounce (32); or with 15 to 30 grains (1_2) of calomel to the same amount. A combination of sulphur and mercury in this formula: l--Hydrarg. gulpl1. ruin gr. 15 1' Sulphur. aublimat 3vj 24 Adepis 3-sf 7S1 0l. bergamnt q. -. 1--M is also well spoken of. Resorcin, 5 to 10 per cent. in ointment, is recommended by Stelwagon, the stronger ones for the more chronic cases. Brocq1 recommends touching the pustules after opening them with the galvanocautery, washing the parts, and applying a thick layer of coal tar, which is to be renewed every second, third, or fourth day.
