Inheritance (Hardcover)

"The Inheritance" is in turns a romantic love story, an exciting sci-fi adventure and a theological and philosophical look at what the future might hold. John More, a 36 year old Englishman takes a space ship flight, won on a TV game show, to the moon and back but on his return journey somehow manages to travel through time to the year 4058, two thousand years into the future. He spends about a year in this time period where he meets and falls in love with Marianne, and her young son George-Louis, and adapts to life two millennia ahead of his time. He observes how life has completely changed for human beings, and how they have changed due to their experiences and greater knowledge.Just as he is beginning to think he might enjoy living in the future his space ship is repaired from his crash landing and he is obliged to return to the 21st century - but again it goes wrong and he lands in the year 3006, in the middle of what history has called 'The Dark Times', where dictatorships are wreaking havoc, gangs and warlords rule and people live in fear and hunger. He helps a small band of waifs and strays find safety but on his return to his spaceship is attacked by a gang of ruffians and is forced to flee, unintentionally taking a small child with him back to the future. However, when he finally lands the reader is unsure whether he has been deposited in the past, the future, or some other plane of reality.
