"Physics in Engineering: 16-19" is designed to emphasize the practical use of physics in industry and engineering. There are two books: Book 1 - "Mechanics and Heat" and Book 2 - "Electricity", designed to complement existing textbooks for the 16-19 age group and to emphasize the engineering and technological aspects of physics at this level. The books are intended to give both students and teachers an interest in engineering and industry and a feel for what professional engineers do.;The books are divided into units, each showing how a particular aspect of physics may be applied to engineering. The units contain data from actual industrial examples, questions and problems based on the real-life engineering and industrial aspects of physics.;"Electricity" contains units on a variety of subjects including design and manufacture of resistors, capacitors and a power inductor and inductive machines.;The "Physics in Engineering: 16-19" project is the successor to the "GCSE School Physics in Engineering" project. It has been funded by the Department of Trade and Industry, the Royal Commission for the Exhibition of 1851 and by various industrial companies.;The books are aimed at sixth form students and students in colleges of further education studying physics or engineering in the 16-19 age group, A level students and possibly also some first year undergraduates studying physics or engineering.
